Note: While we wrote this post before all the quarantine craziness hit, we hope it entertains you and maybe even provides a little inspo if your grocery routine is getting tired.
Do you remember MTV Cribs? Because we sure do!
Let’s be honest, the fridge tour on that show was the. best. part. We thought it would be fun to give y’all a tour of some of our most personal spaces… Our fridges!
Today, the Nutritional Freedom team is going to give you a look inside our fridges and tell you about some of our favorite eats.
Name: Claire S.
Job title: CEO & Founder
Location: Austin, Texas
Current must-have item in your fridge: Always avocado. I’ve mastered the art of avocado picking and knowing *just* went to place them in the fridge. I’ve also been really into keeping a jar of whole grain mustard on hand. Super yummy on bowls, sandwiches, and salads. (Weird flex, but ok??)
Favorite food to meal prep: Y’all know I’m all about my #componentmealprep. This is a meal prep method that utilizes “flexible food forecasting.” I prep a bunch of components I like without trying to predict the *exact* meal I’ll want at any given moment.
Favorite drink: Iced coffee with almond or oat milk. I’ve been known to make a huge pitcher of half caf iced coffee using The Pioneer Woman’s recipe just so I can have an extra cup while I work from home.

Name: Isabel
Job title: Registered Dietitian
Location: Austin, Texas
Current must-have item in your fridge: Broccoli sprouts! Serious nerd alert… But for years, my husband and I have been following Rhonda Patrick’s research around the benefits of sulforaphane found in these sprouts. We finally bit the bullet and started growing our own on our kitchen counter a few months ago. It’s been thrilling getting to see these little babies grow so fast within just a week!
Favorite food to meal prep: Sheet-pan meatballs with salsa verde. This is a Bon Appetit recipe that packs a serious punch. The brightness from the capers and texture from the walnuts are what makes this low-maintenance recipe a real show stopper. The salsa verde is also very versatile and can easily be used to elevate a salad or some roasted veggies.
Favorite drink: Bone broth. One of the saddest sights I see are the leftover bones of a roasted or rotisserie chicken thrown in the bin. Oh the potential! I always look forward to tossing the remains in a pot of water along with miscellaneous aromatics. Within a few hours of simmering, a whole batch of delicious broth is ready to be sipped or extended into a cozy and nostalgic chicken soup. Bonus- my house is now filled with the aroma of a thanksgiving feast and I ain’t mad about it.

Current must-have item in your fridge: Eggs, I love them.
Favorite food to meal prep: I work from home so don’t really do a lot of meal prep and I love going to the store so I go like everyday. But I always have chicken sausage, chopped fruit, and cucumbers and green beans in my fridge so I can make bowls really easily for lunch or if I don’t have time to go to the store.
Favorite drink: Iced tea! I usually have it made in the fridge, or Waterloo.

Name: Rachel
Job title: Operations Lead
Location: Austin, Texas
Current must-have item in your fridge: I recently subscribed to Hungryroot for groceries delivered to my apartment and they have a smoked, ready to eat salmon fillet I have been going for every week. Healthy, delicious, protein packed and I can eat it with literally anything I have lying around. Easy to grab proteins are essential for me to feel nourished during a busy week! If I can’t have pre-cooked salmon, I love a rotisserie chicken.
Fav food to meal prep: TBH I don’t um love meal prepping. I do have an instant pot though and when I actually use it, I LOVE IT. Made a chicken tortilla soup recently that fed me and my boyfriend for almost three days. I also like making sweet potatoes or butternut squash every week because I’ll eat them at any meal!
Favorite drink: LOL WATER. Call me lame. I just love water. Who’s with me????

Name: Claire F.
Job title: Marketing Manager
Location: Santa Barbara, California
Current must-have item in your fridge: Sauerkraut or avocados– I basically put those two things on top of every meal!
Favorite food to meal prep: Component meal prep (check out Claire’s guide here) which usually consists of ground beef, roasted sweet potatoes, chopped kale for easy cooking and roasted carrots! This helps me have easy options when I’m busy and running between jobs or waking up late.
Favorite drink: Health Ade’s Fruit Punch Kombucha. Have you tried this!? If you’re a kombucha lover like me it’s a MUST.
What’s your favorite food or drink in YOUR fridge? We’d love to know in the comments!
