Where do we even begin?! Hosting our first ever Nutritional Freedom In Real Life (#NFIRL) Retreat in Austin Texas at the end of October was nothing short of AMAZING. We laughed, we cried, we ate, we learned, we danced… And now we can’t wait to share this recap with you!
If you haven’t caught our drift by now, our community is a large piece of the magic Nutritional Freedom has to offer. Connecting and sharing our stories is a defining part of what helps us our clients heal their relationship too food & their bodies.
To the women who chose to step outside their comfort zone this weekend and come to an event where they didn’t know many people: THANK YOU for putting your heart on your sleeve! NF wouldn’t be the same without you.
We all arrived at the East Austin Hotel just in time to get settled (and get our goodie bags filled with the itinerary, custom journal, Harper & Soul Provisions granola and MALK coupons) before heading to a welcome happy hour and amazing dinner at 6th and Waller. We are still thinking about the amazing seared salmon and the coconut jasmine fried rice!
We shared where we we were from, our favorite band (thanks for our community manager, Rachel, for the fun playlist based off those answers!) and something we were looking forward to this weekend– everything from time to take a break from busy lives, to connect to other women, to meeting the NF team in real life!
We started off day with a fabulous yoga session on the roof top deck of the East Austin Hotel with Jessica Valentine Patterson (@jessicavalentinepatterson). We laughed, we leaned into our bodies and we moved! Jessica is a fantastic teacher and we were so lucky to get to practice with her.
Next, we had smoothies and granola bowls at the hotel then it was time to freshen up before a day of workshops and speakers! We learned from these amazing women:
Amanda Kuda, Mindset Coach and Sober Lifestyle Advocate
We learned about Amanda’s story and how we can explore our relationship with alcohol even if we don’t want to quit it altogether. She’s a coach for high-functioning, ambitious women who identify as “social / normal / gray area” drinkers and want to accelerate their journey to living the life of their dreams. Amanda helps support women who want to stop drinking or simply change their relationship with alcohol.
Gloria Chan Parker, the founder of Recalibrate Studio
Gloria chatted with us about mindfulness and how her personal relationship with the a mindfulness practice lead her to founding Recalibrate Studio. Recalibrate provides go-getters a modern, science-based approach to mindfulness, neurowellness, and stress management. They understand real stress, educate with eye-opening science, and teach realistic tools that are actually applicable to everyday lives.
Allegra Moet Brantly, the founder of Factora Wealth
Factora’s mission is simple: 1 million women to $1 million in net worth! Yes, you read that right– ONE MILLION in net worth! Allegra shared her story with corporate burnout and feeling trapped because she was living paycheck to paycheck (even though she was earning 6 figures!). Factora’s goal is to help women level-up their earning and investing potential so they can achieve financial freedom.
Plus we heard from our very own coach– Isabel!
Then it was time for a refresh before we headed out to Suerte for dinner. We had an amazing curated menu filled with unique Spanish inspired appetizers– think royal red prawns with cucumber lime broth, chile piquin, red onion and tostadas, yum! Plus grilled sweet potatoes with habanero garlic black pepper oil and lemon aoli. Oh and don’t forget the suadero tacos! Are you drooling yet?
We kicked off our final day *insert crying emoji here* at Blenders and Bowls, where we had the most delicious smoothie bowls. We were joined by Shayda Torabi, the founder of Restart CBD, where she shared her knowledge about the benefits of CBD and her journey with finding pain relief using it.
Next was a *SURPRISE* visit to eleMINT Skin & Wellness Studio for a skin class and group facials! Can you say #selfcaresunday?!
WOW, was it magical. Shauntavia Ward, eleMINT’s founder, walked us through the basics of skin care and helped us each create custom masks for our skin. We all left feeling refreshed and ready to take on the week with our glowing skin!
It was the perfect ending to a fantastic weekend. We couldn’t be more grateful to our amazing team and clients for truly embracing all the retreat had to offer. It was an unforgettable experience and we can’t wait to do it again!
